Most of the territory of Austria, two
thirds of the total, is within the Eastern section of the Alps, that
reach heights of more than 3000 ms. The population concentrates in
valleys of the rivers, between which it emphasizes the one of most

border with Germany, happening through Linz and Vienna, until

The considered population of Austria in October of 2006 was of 8.292.322
people. The population of the capital, Vienna, is superior to 1.65 million
(2.2 million counting the suburbs), and represents around a quarter of the
population of the country, being well-known by its ample cultural supply and
high standard of life. In contrast to the capital, the other Austrian cities
do not exceed the million inhabitants: Graz, where 250,099 inhabitants,
followed of Linz (188.968), Salzburg (150.000) and Innsbruck live (117.346).
All the other cities have less than100,000 inhabitants.
