In
France the official language is
French, originating of the franciano,
linguistic variant spoken in the Island of
France that at the beginning of the
Average Age and, throughout the centuries, has dominated itself the rest of
languages and linguistic variants that are spoken anywhere of the territory.
Often, this imposition of the French has been fruit of taken political decisions
throughout history, with the aim of creating a uniformizado State very
linguistically. In fact, article 2 of the French Constitution of 1958 very
textually says that “langue of the République est him français”. This
article has served not to allow the official use in the cultured scopes of use
of the languages that are spoken in
France, until in 1999 the Cerquiglini report
established 75 spoken regional and minority languages in metropolitan and
overseas France. From 2006, 13 of them are taught like second optative foreign
language in the state school, like bretón, the Catalan, the privateering, the
occitano, the Basoue, the alsaciano, the tahitiano and 4 Melanesian languages.
The originating immigration of abroad, as well as of exclusively French-speaker
regions, causes that the percentage of speaking of these languages is more and
more low. He is one of the states that have not signed the
European Letter of
the minority languages. In spite of everything, nowadays, some private
institutions have tried to foment the use of these languages creating mass
media, creating primary and secondary schools to teach these languages or to
summon claiming acts in favor of an alternative linguistic policy.

The major
