India (devánagari: भारत Bhārat), officially the Republic of India (devánagari: भारतगणराज्य, Bhārat Gaṇarājya), country of the south of Asia that includes the Indian subcontinent most of. Colonising with the world is the second country more (after China), with 1,100 million inhabitants (considered in 2004) and more than one hundred different languages.

With 3.287.590 km ² is the seventh more extensive country of the planet. India limits the west with Pakistan;  with Nepal, Bhután and China to the northeast; and with Myanmar and Bangladesh to the east. Next to their coasts in the Indian Ocean are the islands of Ceylon or Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
