IrelandIrish Rivers: The main river of Ireland is the Shannon River, of 386 km (240 miles), that is longest as much of Ireland as of Great Britain and separates the muddy central region of Ireland of the west of the country. Along river the three form Lagos, the Lough Allen, the Lough Ree and the Lough Derg. The Lough Derg is greatest of the three. The Shannon River ends at the Atlantic Ocean near the city of Limerick in the Shannon estuary. Among others important rivers are the Liffey River, the Lee River, the Blackwater River, the Nore River, the Suir River, the Barrow River and the Boyne River. The greatest lake of Ireland is the Lough Neagh, in the Ulster. The legend tells that a giant, Fionn mac Cumhail, infuriated while it fought with another one of Scotland, took a piece of earth it threw and it. This one fell in the Irish Sea and created the Isle of Man, whereas the Earth hollow filled of water and formed the Lough Neagh. Another Lagos important is the Lough Erne and the Lough Corrib

The oldest rock of Ireland has 1,700 million years of antiquity and was found in Inishtrahull, a small barren island of the coasts of the county of Donegal. In other parts of Donegal, the geologists have found rocks that began to form like glacial deposits during the age of ice, which verifies the fact that Ireland was covered completely by a mass of ice during the period at issue. At the end of the Precámbrico, he does near 600 million years, the mass of earth that later would have evolved to the island of Ireland, would have been divided in two, being a part in the west of the Iapetus ocean and the other to the east, both more or less to the latitude in which today is South Africa. Almost with all certainty, they were underneath the level of the sea, as they demonstrate many found marine fossils in Bray Head, in the county of Wicklow. During the 50 million following years, these two masses of earth entered collision, soon to be united makes approximately 440 million years. This is demonstrated by the fossil existence numerous of coastal forms of life of both masses, found near Clogher Head, in the county of Louth. The mountains of the northwest of Ireland are fruit of this collision, as well as the formation granite-like of Donegal and Wicklow

Ireland consists of a vast plain of little altitude surrounded by a ring of small coastal mountainous chains. The main chains (in counterclockwise sense and starting off of the county of Kerry) are: the Macgillycuddy's Reeks, Montes Comeragh, the Blackstair Mountains, Montes Wicklow, the Mournes, the Glens of Antrim, the Sperrin Mountains, the Bluestack Mountains, Montes Derryveagh, the Ox Mountains, Montes Nephinbeg and the group formed by the Twelve Bens/Maumturks. Only some small mountains are remoter of the coast, all in South half of the island: the Galtee Mountains, Silvermines and Slieve Bloom. The highest tip is Carrauntuohill, of 1041 meters of altitude. One is in the Macgillycuddy's Reeks, in the county of Kerry, the suroccidental part of Ireland. In all the cases these mountains too much are not lifted: only 3 tips exceed the 1,000 meters and the other 455 500 meters of altitude.
