The greater island of Ireland is the Achill Island, that is
placed throughout the western coast of the county of May. It is lived and
connected to Ireland by a bridge. Most important at cultural level they are the
Islands Plow, an archipelago formed by three islands, Inishmore, Inishmaan and
Inisheer, in the coast of the county of Galway, which are populated by an
important community of Irish speech, or Gaeltacht. Valencia Island, near the
peninsula of Iveragh, in the county of Kerry, is also one of the majors islands
of Ireland. Relatively it is colonised, and connected by a bridge in his
Southeastern part. The Omey island, in the coast of Connemara in the county of
Galway, is a only accessible island on foot during the low tide. Very rich at
cultural level, but less at economic level, they are the islands of the coasts
of the county of Donegal, like for example Arranmore and Tory. Ireland, mainly
in its western part, is formed by numerous peninsulas. Many of most spectacular
and known Ireland are placed in the county of Kerry, for example the peninsula
of Dingle, the peninsula of Iveragh, already mentioned, and the peninsula of
Beara. The peninsula of Ards, in the county of Down, is also very extensive, one
of the majors peninsulas outside Kerry, as well as the peninsula of Inishowen,
in the county of Donegal, that includes the most northern point of Ireland,
important Malin Head, and several cities like Buncrana, Carndonagh and Moville.
The most southern end of Ireland is the Mizen end. The more northern land
characteristic of Ireland is the Inishtrahull island, around Malin Head. The
rocky small barren island of Rockall could deserve this honor but it is a
disputed territory, since it is protested by the United Kingdom, the Republic of
Ireland, Denmark (the Faeroes) and Iceland .

The climate of Ireland is tempered, although
significantly hotter than almost all the other places located in a similar
latitude, like Poland (in Europe) or Newfoundland, the opposed side of the
Atlantic), due to the influence of the Current of the North Atlantic. The wind
usually moves from the southwest towards the northeast, breaking in mountains of
the western coast. Due to this, rains are an essential component of the life in
this region of Ireland, where the Island Bravery (the most western town of
Europe), in the Atlantic coast and pertaining to the County of Kerry, it almost
receives the rain double that Dublin in the east (1400 mm versus. 762 mm).
