From then, a strong displacement of the traditional activities took place (agriculture fishes and) towards the sector services originated by the tourism, that became since then the base of the prosperity of the city. The Spanish tourism began to share the space with the visitors of other parts of Europe, first arrived with its vehicles and then, the entrance in operation of the airport of the Altet in 1967, arrived in flights charter. At the moment, Benidorm is one of the first tourist cities of all the Mediterranean coast.
